Content: Special air-reports from aircraft in flight, of meteorological phenomena likely to affect efficiency as well as safety, are needed by meteorological watch offices as an important source of information to support flight safety through the issuance of timely and accurate SIGMET information. Recent advancements in the delivery of SIGMET service by APAC States highlight the importance to the aviation system of the ICAO standards and recommended practices for exchanging special air-reports between airlines, air traffic services units and meteorological offices.
